Hudson Williams has unexpectedly turned a Canadian Tire reusable shopping bag into a viral sensation, and now the retailer is giving the trend a charitable twist.

The Heated Rivalry star was recently spotted carrying Canadian Tire's red-and-black plaid reusable bag while in Toronto, prompting fans to search for the same $1.99 tote. The sudden interest in the everyday shopping bag led to a surge in demand, with fans sharing their purchases and reporting that the bag had sold out at stores across Canada.

The unexpected popularity of the bag comes as Williams' profile continues to grow following the success of Heated Rivalry, in which he plays hockey star Shane Hollander. The show's fandom has previously driven interest in clothing and other items associated with Williams and his character, including the Team Canada fleece worn in the series.

Canadian Tire has now responded to the enthusiasm surrounding the reusable bag by announcing that 100% of Canadian Tire Corporation's net proceeds from every bag sold since August 1 will be donated to Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities.

The retailer shared the announcement on Instagram alongside an image of the plaid bag sitting on an ice rink. "Your love for our reusable bag has been incredible," Canadian Tire wrote, explaining that the money will go towards helping more children across Canada "get in the game."

Jumpstart Charities is Canadian Tire's charitable organisation focused on helping children and young people access sport and physical activity. The donation means the unexpected shopping-bag craze sparked by Williams will now help support youth sports across Canada.

Fans have celebrated the announcement online, with many pointing out the unlikely journey of the ordinary Canadian Tire bag from a practical shopping item to a viral Heated Rivalry fandom accessory and, now, a source of charitable funding.

Williams has not appeared to be involved in a formal Canadian Tire campaign. His connection to the trend began simply because fans spotted him carrying the bag, but the attention has since become a nationwide phenomenon surrounding both the actor and the popular series.

With the proceeds from bags sold since August 1 now going to Jumpstart, Canadian Tire has turned the viral moment into an opportunity to support children and youth across the country.
