Jared Freid returns to Netflix with The Family Plan, a new stand-up special premiering Sept. 1 with fresh family humor

Jared Freid is returning to Netflix with a new stand-up comedy special, The Family Plan, which is set to premiere on Sept. 1.

The upcoming Netflix comedy special will see Freid focus on family life and personal experiences, with the comedian tackling topics including vacations with his parents and a viral “Karen” video that hits close to home.

Directed by Jason Katz, The Family Plan was filmed at Tarrytown Music Hall in Tarrytown, New York. The special follows Freid’s first Netflix stand-up special, 37 & Single, which premiered in 2023.

As with his previous Netflix special, The Family Plan is executive produced by Betches, the media company that has maintained a long-running creative partnership with Freid. Freid also serves as an executive producer alongside Matthew Vaughan, James Dixon and Daniel Bodansky.

Freid is known for his comedy about modern dating, relationships and the challenges of adulthood. His material frequently explores dating apps, body image and millennials navigating relationships and adult life.

Beyond stand-up, Freid is a podcaster and author. He released his first book, Walking Red Flag, Dating Advice From Your Favorite Guy Friend, earlier this year through Simon & Schuster. The book combines his comedic approach with dating advice.

The comedian has also appeared on The Tonight Show, Good Morning Football and The Golden Bachelor, where he hosted a roast of Mel Owens. He has additionally voiced the narrator for Peacock’s reality series Love Under Cover and appeared in the independent romantic comedy 31 Candles.

Freid currently hosts the JTrain Podcast and co-hosts U Up? with Jordana Abraham of Betches. The Family Plan will expand his growing presence on Netflix when it premieres Sept. 1.
