Justin Herbert and Madison Beer have announced their engagement, with details of the singer’s reported $1 million diamond ring drawing attention following their Instagram announcement.

Beer shared the news with a series of photos featuring Herbert and the ring, captioning the post simply, “Meet my fiancé”. The couple’s engagement comes after months of public interest in their relationship.

Herbert, who has generally kept his personal life private, selected an elongated cushion-cut diamond set on a simple band.

Jewellery experts have described the ring as featuring a rare 2:1 elongated cushion-cut stone, with the design focusing on the diamond rather than additional details.

Ring expert Kegan Fisher said the stone is an “extremely elongated cushion cut with a length-to-width ratio approaching 2:1, which is exceptionally rare and incredibly difficult to source”.

The diamond is reportedly around 15 carats and has been compared to antique-style cuts. Le Vian CEO Eddie Le Vian said he believed it was an old mine-cut diamond, similar to the cut used for Taylor Swift’s engagement ring.

“Extended cushion diamonds, and especially antique old mine [cut] cushions really resonate because they offer remarkable presence while maintaining a soft, graceful silhouette, and can feel very personal and authentic,” Le Vian said.

He added, “The beauty of this ring lies in its simplicity. The elongated cushion cut diamond appears to be paired with a delicate band and classic solitaire-style setting, creating a look that feels both timeless and incredibly current.”

Herbert later discussed the proposal, saying it was more nerve-racking than making his first NFL start.

When asked which moment made him more nervous, the Los Angeles Chargers quarterback said, “The proposal, for sure.”

Beer’s mother Tracie also celebrated the engagement, writing that “Some things are meant to be, and this is certainly one of them!”
