Two sisters die after eating leftover meal
Two sisters reportedly died from suspected food poisoning after consuming leftover chickpea lentils (daal chana) in a village, police said, while an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the incident.
The incident occurred in Arjan Singh village near Changa Manga, where the family had prepared daal chana for dinner and reportedly served the leftovers again at breakfast the following morning.
According to police and local sources, shortly after eating the meal, 20-year-old Amara and her 13-year-old sister Tehreem fell critically ill. Family members rushed them to a nearby hospital, but both girls died on the way.
Police reached the scene after being informed of the incident and launched an inquiry.
Police sources said the victims' father, Mahmood, and mother, Shahida Bibi, also became unwell but are now out of danger and their condition is stable.
Investigators suspect food poisoning as the preliminary cause of the deaths.
