Collin Gosselin breaks silence on childhood struggles ahead of memoir release

Collin Gosselin reflects on childhood as he previews memoir detailing family struggles and finding his own voice

Collin Gosselin has shared an emotional reflection on his childhood as he prepares to release his upcoming memoir, Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, later this year.

The former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star posted a heartfelt message to his younger self on Instagram, writing that he hopes to turn "pain into purpose" and use his experiences to help others. Accompanying a childhood photo, Gosselin wrote that one day he would transform "silence into a voice" and become "the reason someone else speaks up."

The memoir, scheduled for release in October, will explore Collin Gosselin's upbringing, his experiences growing up on reality television and his relationship with his mother, Kate Gosselin. In previous statements promoting the book, the 22-year-old said much of what happened behind the scenes during his childhood was never shown publicly.

According to Collin, the memoir focuses on truth, resilience and reclaiming his voice after years of feeling unheard. He has also recently repeated allegations of abuse against Kate Gosselin on social media, claiming he wanted to bring those experiences into the public eye. Kate has denied the accusations, previously stating on social media that her platforms are not a place for what she described as "made up accusation discussion."

Collin is one of Jon and Kate Gosselin's sextuplets, alongside Alexis, Hannah, Leah, Joel and Aaden, while the former couple also share twin daughters Cara and Mady.

As anticipation builds for Shadow of Eight, Collin says his goal is for the memoir to encourage others facing difficult experiences to speak openly, adding that if his story helps even one person feel less alone, sharing it will have been worthwhile.
