KARACHI:

Traffic on both sides of the Malir River Bridge will remain suspended for 12 hours on July 18 and 19 as construction work on the Malir Expressway project enters a critical phase, Karachi Traffic Police announced on Friday.

The bridge, located on the National Highway within Malir City traffic section limits, will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 7am to 7pm on both days to allow development and construction work to proceed safely and efficiently, officials said.

"These temporary closures are necessary to ensure the work is completed on time without compromising public safety," a traffic police spokesperson said.

In a detailed advisory, the traffic police outlined alternative routes for commuters. Vehicles approaching from Quaidabad have been directed to take a U-turn on Sharah-e-Bhutto and proceed towards Malir City to reach their destinations. Traffic coming from Malook Hotel on the National Highway can pass underneath the Malir River Bridge and continue towards Pakistan Steel Mills.
