Customs official's killer dies in encounter

PESHAWAR:

The main accused in the recent murder of a customs official was killed in a police encounter in the jurisdiction of Pishtakhara Police Station, while his accomplice managed to flee under the cover of gunfire.

According to police, the deceased suspect, identified as Abdul Qayyum son of Adnan, resident of Umedabad, was wanted in the murder of Customs official Abbas Ahmed son of Deedar Gul. The killing took place on July 2, when the accused and his accomplice opened fire near the victim's house in Shaheen Colony.

A week after the murder, police conducted an operation in the Pishtakhara area during which Abdul Qayyum was killed. A pistol was also recovered from his possession during the encounter.

Police records revealed that the slain accused was wanted not only in the murder case (FIR No. 605/2026) registered at Pishtakhara Police Station.
