Karachi court acquits drug queenpin 'Pinky' in three cases

Defence counsel argues that the two accused in the case have already been acquitted

The Additional District and Sessions Court South on Thursday acquitted alleged drug baroness Anmol alias 'Pinky' in three drug cases registered at Gizri police station.

Karachi police arrested Pinky in May, who was accused of operating one of the city’s most organised narcotics supply networks. The suspect was arrested during a joint operation conducted by city police and a civil agency at an apartment in the Garden area. Investigators claim she was running a sophisticated cocaine processing and delivery operation with links extending beyond Karachi to Lahore, Islamabad and other cities.

According to the police, cases were registered against Pinki at Gizri police station in 2020, 2021 and 2022 while she was a fugitive in the cases.

During the hearing, the defence counsel argued that the two accused in the case had already been acquitted.

"The court had previously acquitted the co-accused Ali and Fehmida in 2024, and Pinky was included in the case based on the statements of the co-accused. After the acquittal of the co-accused, there is no possibility of the accused being convicted in the case," the lawyer argued.

Earlier, investigators claimed Pinky was running a sophisticated cocaine processing and delivery operation with links extending beyond Karachi to Lahore, Islamabad and other cities. According to the police, Pinky not only supplied narcotics to affluent neighbourhoods, including DHA and Clifton, but also personally prepared high-grade cocaine and managed deliveries through female riders and online platforms.

During interrogation, she allegedly claimed that “no one in Pakistan makes better cocaine” than hers. Police said she sold two categories of cocaine — “White Coke” for Rs25,000 per gram and “Golden Category” cocaine for Rs40,000 per gram.

Pinky also alleged that she was being coerced into naming politicians and members of the entertainment industry. She claimed that she had been subjected to torture and alleged that the investigation officer slapped her during interrogation. "The IO threatened me and asked me to name a former prime minister and actors Muneeb Butt and Syra Yousuf," she alleged.
