Blake Lively's absence from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding has sparked renewed speculation about the status of the pair's once close friendship, with multiple reports claiming the actress was left disappointed after not receiving an invitation.
According to reports from Page Six and the Daily Mail, Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds were not among the guests at Swift and Kelce's high profile wedding celebration at Madison Square Garden on July 3. Sources quoted by the outlets claimed Swift intentionally kept her guest list focused on people she trusts and wanted around her on an important personal occasion.
The latest claims were amplified after The Blast reported that Lively was upset by the omission and had hoped her long history with Swift would outweigh recent tensions. The report, which cited unnamed sources, claimed Lively believed there was still a possibility of repairing the friendship before the wedding guest list was finalised. However, those claims have not been independently confirmed by Swift or Lively.
One source quoted by Page Six said Swift is now in a different place in her life and wants to be surrounded by people who bring her peace. The same source alleged that, from Swift's perspective, the friendship has effectively come to an end.
Swift and Lively enjoyed a friendship spanning more than a decade. They regularly appeared together at public events, holiday gatherings and family celebrations. Swift also referenced the names of Lively and Reynolds' children in her music, highlighting the closeness they once shared.
Reports suggest the relationship became strained after the legal dispute involving Lively and It Ends With Us director and co star Justin Baldoni. Swift was briefly drawn into the case after receiving a subpoena that was later withdrawn. Court filings and private text messages that entered the public domain placed unexpected attention on Swift, with reports suggesting the situation caused tension between the longtime friends.
While the exact status of their relationship remains private, several entertainment outlets have reported for months that Lively was unlikely to receive an invitation to the wedding. Those reports proved accurate when the actress was absent from both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding ceremony.
Instead of attending the celebrations in New York, Lively and Reynolds were reported to have spent the holiday period with their family, including supporting one of their children at an equestrian event in Lake Placid.
Neither Swift, Kelce, Lively nor Reynolds has publicly commented on the reported guest list decision or on the claims about the state of their friendship. As a result, much of the reporting surrounding Lively's reaction remains based on unnamed entertainment industry sources rather than statements from the people directly involved.
Although speculation continues to dominate celebrity headlines, the only confirmed fact is that Lively and Reynolds were not present at Swift and Kelce's wedding celebrations. Whether the friendship can eventually recover remains unknown, with neither side offering any public indication about future reconciliation.
