Indian jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali dismissed long-standing rumours that her sister Sussanne Khan received an INR4 billion alimony settlement following Sussanne's divorce from actor Hrithik Roshan in 2014, calling the rumours "completely false."

Farah, the daughter of veteran actor Sanjay Khan, addressed the speculation during an interview, where she spoke candidly about her sister's highly publicised separation from Roshan. “I feel sick to the bottom of my heart when I see people online saying that INR4 billion was paid and that Sussanne got richer," she said, stressing that the rumour was never true.

According to Farah, Sussanne and Roshan ended their marriage on good terms and simply realised they were incompatible. "I think that they both conducted it beautifully. It was amicable," she said.

"She conducted herself in a sophisticated manner. She was not a gold digger and came from a good family. Hrithik is also a wonderful man," Farah stated. Dismissing the alimony claims once again, Farah said, "That is such a lie. My sister didn't take anything. I don't think such news should be concocted."

Reflecting on the public reaction to the divorce, she said, "A lot happened then. Everyone was shocked and wondering how this could happen. There was a lot of hue and cry and a lot of opinions about their personal life, but only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches."

Further, discussing the values instilled in them by their parents, Farah said she and Sussanne were always encouraged to be financially independent. "My mom always told us that it is really important to be financially independent because if you have all your eggs in one basket, when you have a calamity, it will be difficult."

Saying that she and Sussanne "come from a family and mother who taught us that materialistic things are not important," Farah stated that the sisters were taught that it was relationships that were important. She revealed that Sussanne continues to share a warm relationship with her former in-laws Pinkie and Rakesh Roshan. "They love her," she said, adding that despite the divorce, the families have remained close.

She also revealed that she had urged Sussanne to publicly deny the false alimony rumours, but her sister refused to engage with the speculation. "I told her, 'Why don't you deny all this?' And she said, 'I don't care what people think of me. If I cared, I'd be a different person.'"

Saying that Sussanne's decision to remain silent reflected her dignity, Farah noted that her sister chose not to fuel baseless gossip and instead focused on maintaining respectful relationships with everyone involved.
