Bilal Maqsood says 'Pakkay Dost' season 4 aims to foster children’s love for Urdu

Show returns on August 22 with educational songs covering Urdu, fitness, animals, vegetables and the human body

Singer Bilal Maqsood has announced the fourth season of his popular children’s programme Pakkay Dost, promising more educational content, engaging songs and a renewed focus on fostering children’s love for the Urdu language.

He shared the news in a video posted on Instagram, revealing that the new season will premiere on YouTube on August 22. “S4 releasing 22nd August!!” he wrote in the caption.

Speaking about the upcoming season, the singer highlighted the idea behind Pakkay Dost: creating healthy and wholesome entertainment in Urdu while making the language feel relevant and enjoyable for younger audiences.

“To make Pakkay Dost was to try to make healthy and wholesome content in Urdu which would make Urdu cool and relevant for children,” he said.

The new season will continue the programme’s educational approach through music and entertaining performances. In one clip, actor Syra Yousuf can be seen dancing along to songs exploring the history of the Urdu language and introducing children to new vocabulary.

“Where did Urdu come from?” she sings, incorporating words from languages including Arabic and Turkish into the performance.

Maqsood also revealed that the new songs will explore a range of educational topics, from physical fitness and kindness towards animals to the names of vegetables, bones and joints in the human body.

“We speak on the importance of physical exercise. We also speak of kindness towards animals. We make them learn the names of vegetables, the names of bones and joints in the body,” he explained.

The singer encouraged parents to watch the programme alongside their children, saying the series has been designed to be entertaining and informative for the entire family.

According to him, Pakkay Dost now features more than 50 songs covering a wide range of subjects and facts. “So I tell all parents that this is a show they should watch with their kids. We have designed it in a way that the parents will enjoy it just as much as the children,” he said.

Maqsood added that his own enjoyment of the music remains an important part of his creative process. “When I write songs, I make sure I enjoy it or there is no point,” he said, encouraging families who are new to the programme to start with its first season.

With its fourth season set to arrive on YouTube on August 22, Pakkay Dost continues Maqsood’s effort to combine education and entertainment while introducing young audiences to the richness of Urdu.

On the professional front, Maqsood is currently serving as a judge on Pakistan Idol Season 2. He also recently released his song O'Re Saajna, featuring a muppet twist.
