KARACHI:

The Nipa hydrant on Karachi's University Road was sealed on Wednesday after Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah reportedly encountered severe traffic congestion near Nipa Chowrangi while travelling to NED University, prompting authorities to move swiftly to ease traffic flow.

According to sources, the chief minister expressed displeasure over the traffic jam and directed the Karachi commissioner to improve traffic management in the area.

The sources said a large number of water tankers queued outside the Nipa hydrant were obstructing traffic on University Road when the chief minister's convoy passed through the area.

Soon afterwards, the assistant commissioner of Gulshan-e-Iqbal sealed the hydrant and had the tankers removed from the main road, resulting in a noticeable improvement in traffic flow.
