'The Odyssey' to skip influencer screenings ahead of July cinema release
Universal is reportedly skipping influencer screenings for Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' before its July release

Universal Pictures is reportedly planning to skip influencer screenings for Christopher Nolan's upcoming film The Odyssey ahead of its July cinema release.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio will not hold advance word-of-mouth screenings for influencers before critics and journalists see the film.
These screenings have become a common part of modern film marketing, often generating early social media reactions before formal reviews are published.
Studios often organise influencer screenings to encourage early online discussion and positive first impressions before a film reaches wider audiences. However, The Odyssey appears to be taking a different approach.
The report suggested there could be several reasons behind the decision. Christopher Nolan is known for keeping details of his films closely guarded before release, with projects often avoiding film festivals and relying on limited marketing campaigns.
Forgoing advance influencer screenings could help preserve the film's secrecy and reduce the risk of spoilers ahead of its theatrical debut.
The report also noted that some industry observers believe influencer reactions may carry less weight than they once did, particularly among film audiences who view early social media praise as part of promotional campaigns.
Despite the reported lack of influencer screenings, early demand for premium-format tickets is said to indicate strong audience interest in the film.
The Odyssey features an ensemble cast including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong'o, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Jovan Adepo, Jon Bernthal, John Leguizamo, Travis Scott and Elliot Page.
Nolan wrote and directed the adaptation, reuniting with several longtime collaborators, including cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema and composer Ludwig Göransson.
The Odyssey is scheduled to be released in cinemas on July 17.
