Summer camp inspires young artists
The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) continues to engage children and young learners through its Summer Art Camp 2026, offering an inspiring platform to nurture creativity and develop artistic skills through hands-on training in drawing, painting, calligraphy and keyboard.
The two-month camp, which commenced on June 10, is providing participants with an opportunity to explore their creative potential under the guidance of experienced instructors in a vibrant and interactive learning environment.
According to PNCA, separate drawing and painting classes are being conducted for children aged 7-12 years and 13-20 years.
Calligraphy classes are open to participants aged 7-14 years, while keyboard training is being offered to students between 8 and 16 years of age.
Talking to APP, a parent whose two children are attending the junior painting classes said one of the biggest challenges for parents during the summer vacations was keeping children away from excessive use of mobile phones and other digital gadgets.
"Activities like the PNCA Summer Art Camp provide children with a healthy and creative alternative. They foster positive and constructive thinking, help polish their hidden talents and enable them to spend their vacations in a productive and meaningful way," the parent said.
Talking to APP, Deputy Director PNCA Shabana Ashraf, who is supervising the Summer Art Camp, told APP that organizing summer art classes is a regular feature of the council's annual calendar of educational and cultural activities.
"Every year, PNCA arranges these classes to provide children with an opportunity to learn from experienced instructors, unlock their creative potential and spend their summer vacations in a creative and productive environment," she said.
She said the camp had received an encouraging response from parents, reflecting growing awareness about the importance of creative learning and extracurricular activities.
"Our objective is not only to teach artistic techniques but also to build confidence, imagination and aesthetic appreciation among young participants. Such activities help children discover their hidden talents, develop creative thinking and contribute positively to their overall personality development," she added.
The Summer Art Camp will continue until August 09 at the PNCA premises, with classes being held on weekdays according to the announced schedule.
