Netflix’s 13 Going on 30 reboot adds Mortal Kombat star Adeline Rudolph to cast
Netflix’s upcoming 13 Going on 30 reboot has added Adeline Rudolph to its cast, with the actress joining Emily Bader and Logan Lerman in the new romantic comedy adaptation.
According to Deadline, Rudolph is set to star in the Netflix reboot, although details about her character and the film’s updated storyline are being kept under wraps. Netflix has not officially commented on the casting news.
The reboot will revisit the beloved 2004 romantic comedy 13 Going on 30, which originally starred Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. The film followed a 13-year-old girl who magically wakes up as her 30-year-old self and must navigate adulthood while rediscovering her identity and relationships.
Jennifer Garner, who played the adult version of Jenna Rink in the original movie, is returning as an executive producer on the Netflix project. Production is expected to begin in Los Angeles in late June.
Brett Haley, known for directing Netflix’s People We Meet on Vacation, will direct the reboot from a screenplay by Hannah Marks, with additional revisions by Flora Greeson. The project is being produced by Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum through RK Films, alongside several other producers.
The original 13 Going on 30 became a cultural favourite after its 2004 release, earning around $96 million worldwide and maintaining popularity through home entertainment releases.
Rudolph recently appeared as Kitana in Mortal Kombat II and is also known for roles in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Riverdale, Resident Evil and Hellboy: The Crooked Man. She will next appear in Amazon’s Reacher spin-off Neagley and the upcoming thriller Perfect Girl.
The Netflix 13 Going on 30 reboot is expected to bring a new take on the classic rom-com while introducing the story to a new generation.
