David Beckham declined to discuss his estrangement from eldest son Brooklyn Beckham while celebrating one of the biggest milestones of his career.

The former England captain was asked about the intense media attention surrounding his family's ongoing rift during an interview with Variety. However, Beckham quickly shut down the question, making it clear that he had no intention of discussing the matter publicly.

“To be honest, I'm sorry to stop you there, but that's a private matter,” Beckham said. “That's the one thing that I don't want to talk about.”

The brief exchange came as Beckham was being honoured in Los Angeles, where he was joined by wife Victoria Beckham and their children Romeo, Cruz and Harper. Brooklyn was notably absent from the ceremony amid the family's highly publicised estrangement.

Although he refused to address the fallout directly, Beckham spoke warmly about his family while discussing the secret to his 26-year marriage to Victoria.

“We've got four incredible kids,” he said, adding that despite their demanding careers, family remains the couple's top priority. “Our family always comes first. That's our priority, and that's what makes it work when you've been together for so long.”

During his emotional Walk of Fame speech, Beckham also paid tribute to his children, describing them as the reason he gets up every morning, although he did not mention any of them by name.

The latest comments come months after Brooklyn publicly detailed his grievances with his parents in a lengthy social media statement released in January, 2026. Since then, David and Victoria Beckham have largely avoided discussing the situation publicly, with the football icon's latest remarks reinforcing his determination to keep family matters private.
