Wendy Williams shares update from New York care facility amid conservatorship battle
Williams discussed life at the assisted living facility she resides in after her aphasia and dementia diagnosis

Wendy Williams has provided a new update on her living situation from within a memory care unit in New York, as she continues to challenge the conservatorship arrangement that has governed her affairs since her health declined.
In an interview with the New York Post, the former talk show host discussed life at Coterie, an assisted living facility where she has resided since 2023 following her diagnosis of aphasia and dementia, which led to her retirement in 2021.
Williams described aspects of her daily routine and surroundings, stating, “There’s grass, trees, two floors, no cars around. Can’t even do the elevator to go down. It, too, is locked. I once was a connoisseur of food, and now sometimes I’ll just have meals in my room. And I don’t drink,” she said. “And I’m 61. And mine is a locked floor. And there’s also an in and out hospital. There’s always security with me. Look, I go to church every Sunday. It’s the Christian Cultural Center — 10 a.m. I go with a personal aide. … Understand, I did a daily TV show 14 years. This watching over me also deals with dresses. I was tall. Looking gorgeous. Now all my good stuff’s in storage.”
She added further comments about her routine, saying ,“Best I can do is Monday and Friday I go to the gym. Let me tell you something else — and that is that I don’t know exactly how, what, why, but I have gone through a lot of sh* t,” she added.
Williams has previously described the facility in less positive terms during an earlier interview with The Cut, where she referred to it as a “dump” and said she requested a transfer from her current floor due to being placed in a memory care unit with older residents.
Her legal situation remains ongoing. Last year, her attorney Joe Tacopina stated that Williams has “alcohol-induced dementia”, which he said differs from typical progressive dementia conditions in terms of expected progression and impact.
