RAWALPINDI:

In view of the overall situation in Azad Kashmir, additional police pickets have been established at four entry and exit points connecting Azad Jammu and Kashmir with Punjab to ensure security and facilitate the smooth transportation of food items and essential commodities.

Sources said that, given the prevailing circumstances in Azad Kashmir, authorities have taken measures to ensure security and the safe movement of goods. Enhanced security arrangements have been ordered at four key points linking Azad Jammu and Kashmir with Rawalpindi district and Murree, including Dhan Gali, Azad Pattan and Kotli Sattian.

Following these directives, officers of the district administration, district police and traffic police in Rawalpindi and Murree were instructed to immediately report for duty. In response, the relevant personnel reached the designated locations, established pickets and began performing their duties.

Speaking to The Express Tribune on condition of anonymity, an official said they had been instructed to facilitate the movement of vehicles carrying food items and essential supplies from Rawalpindi to Azad Kashmir after conducting necessary security checks.

No nomination papers filed

Owing to the deteriorating political situation in Azad Kashmir, no candidate has entered the electoral arena for the three refugee seats of Rawalpindi and Islamabad even after four days of the election process.

Neither any political party candidate nor any independent aspirant has obtained nomination papers for the three refugee constituencies - Valley-4, Valley-5 and Jammu-6 - of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

A complete silence prevailed at the offices of the returning officers for the three constituencies, with no activity witnessed during the past four days.
