PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Thursday gave in-principle approval for the issuance of land fards (land records) through NADRA e-Sahulat centres to make the service more accessible to citizens.

Presiding over a key meeting on reforms in the Revenue Department, the chief minister directed relevant authorities to ensure the new facility is inaugurated next week so that people can start benefiting from it without delay.

He said the provincial government is taking practical steps to deliver services at citizens' doorsteps. Land fards will now also be available from NADRA e-Sahulat centres in addition to the department's own service delivery centres. This will save people time and money and spare them unnecessary visits to government offices.

"We believe in people-friendly governance. Providing facilities at the doorstep is our priority," Afridi said, adding that the new system would ensure ease, transparency and convenience for the public.

Officials informed the meeting that payment of government fees and other service charges for land fards would be made entirely cashless.

The meeting was also briefed in detail on the draft of the Land Acquisition Bill 2026. The chief minister directed that special provisions be included in the bill to eliminate unnecessary delays in the acquisition process. He asked the authorities to finalise the draft at the earliest and place it before the relevant forums for approval.

Appreciating the draft, Afridi said the bill was fully in line with the vision of Imran Khan and placed public interest above all else.
