Texas LEGO thief handed 45-year prison term after massive $300K spree
Texas man jailed 45 years after $300K LEGO theft spree across Texas and Oklahoma, police confirm major retail case

organized retail theft operation involving more than 200 LEGO sets and over $300,000 worth of stolen merchandise, according to authorities cited by the Watauga Police Department and local U.S. media reports.
The convict, identified as 28-year-old Winston Love, was found guilty of organized retail theft with a deadly weapon. Along with the prison sentence, he was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.
Investigators said the theft spree took place over approximately 50 days in 2025 and stretched across multiple locations in North Texas and Oklahoma. During the operation, Love allegedly stole high-value consumer goods including LEGO sets, coffee makers, vacuum cleaners, and gaming accessories such as PlayStation controllers.
Police said the case first came to light after Love was arrested in October 2025 for allegedly stealing more than $1,200 worth of LEGO sets from a Target store in Watauga. Following his arrest, investigators tracked him to a residence where he was taken into custody after a brief standoff.
Authorities later recovered a vehicle, cash, and narcotics during a search warrant execution, further linking him to a wider theft network spanning multiple jurisdictions.
The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office confirmed that this was the first case prosecuted under Texas’ updated organized retail theft statute, which came into effect in September 2025.
Officials said the sentence reflects a strong stance against organized retail crime, which has seen rising attention due to high-value reselling markets, particularly for collectible items like LEGO sets.
