Student dead in Swat school bus crash

A girl student lost her life while 20 other students sustained injuries when the bus carrying them met with a mishap in Darmai Landi Cham area of Swat on Tuesday.

According to initial police report, the accident happened after the bus reportedly suffered a brake failure and overturned. More than 40 female students were on board and were traveling to their school at the time of the incident.

Rescue officials identified the deceased student as Hoorain, daughter of Khurshid, a resident of Landi Cham. Several other students sustained injuries of varying severity. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported the injured students to nearby hospitals, where they are receiving medical treatment.

The accident also injured three women pedestrians who were struck when the bus lost control. Witnesses said the vehicle became uncontrollable and plunged off the road, causing multiple injuries. Officials are also examining the cause of the accident and the fitness condition of the school bus.
