Persona 6 has officially been announced by Atlus, ending years of speculation surrounding the next mainline entry in the long-running role-playing game series.

The reveal took place during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, where the studio unveiled a brief teaser trailer and confirmed the game will launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, including Xbox Game Pass.

The announcement marks the first official confirmation of Persona 6 following months of reports and leaks suggesting the project was already in development.

While the teaser offered few details, it featured brief scenes that appeared to show a graveyard setting, prompting discussion among fans about the tone of the upcoming title.

Atlus did not reveal any gameplay footage, story information or release date during the showcase. However, a description accompanying the teaser stated, “An entirely new story is about to unfold.”

According to the game's official description, Persona 6 will feature a standalone story combining everyday school life with supernatural elements.

Players will once again balance daily activities, friendships and relationships while confronting mysterious events and threats.

The description adds, “Navigate the rhythms of everyday school life and build friendships, pursue romance, and cultivate memories that matter. But beneath the surface of familiar streets and quiet neighborhoods lies something darker.”

The announcement also confirmed that Persona 6 will arrive after Persona 4 Revival, the remake of Persona 4, which is scheduled for release in February 2027.

P-Studio director Kazuhisa Wada said, “We are delighted to officially announce our work on the next installment of the Persona series and look forward to sharing the incredible efforts that the entire team is putting into Persona 6 for its release after Persona 4 Revival.”
