Capcom has officially unveiled Resident Evil: Veronica, a remake of the 2000 survival horror title Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, with a launch planned for next year.

The announcement was made during Summer Game Fest, where Capcom debuted the first trailer for the project. The remake follows the company's recent series of Resident Evil reimaginings, including the Resident Evil 4 remake released in 2023.

Originally launched in 2000, Resident Evil – Code: Veronica occupies an important place in the franchise timeline.

The game takes place after the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, continuing the story of Claire Redfield as she searches for her brother, Chris Redfield.

Based on footage shown during the reveal, Resident Evil: Veronica appears to closely follow the events of the original game.

The story sees Claire travel to Paris, France, where she infiltrates an Umbrella Corporation facility in an effort to locate and rescue Chris.

The remake features updated visuals and modernised presentation while retaining the core narrative that made the original title a notable entry in the series.

The reveal trailer showcased several familiar locations, characters and story moments re-created with contemporary graphics technology.

Although a remake of Code: Veronica had been widely discussed among fans following Capcom's successful remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4, the project had not been officially confirmed until now.

The original game first released on the Sega Dreamcast before later appearing on additional platforms. An HD version followed in 2011, but this marks the first full-scale remake of the title.

Capcom has not yet announced an exact release date. However, Resident Evil: Veronica is scheduled to launch sometime in 2027 and is expected to arrive on modern platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
