Helen Mirren appears to defend Tom Hardy amid explosive 'MobLand' controversy
Controversy began after reports claimed Hardy had been removed from season 3 of 'MobLand' following clashes on set

Helen Mirren has seemingly shown public support for Tom Hardy following weeks of reports surrounding alleged behind-the-scenes tensions on the set of Paramount+ crime drama MobLand.
The Oscar-winning actress sparked attention after sharing an affectionate Instagram message directed at Hardy, posting a photograph of her co-star alongside the caption: “Love you now and always helen.” The post quickly fuelled speculation that Mirren was attempting to shut down rumours of a feud between the pair.
The controversy began after reports claimed Hardy had been removed from a potential third season of MobLand following alleged clashes with producers and cast members during production on Season 2. Multiple outlets reported that Hardy was frequently late to set, remained inside his trailer for extended periods and frustrated co-stars including Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
One report alleged Hardy kept fellow actors waiting “for hours” while production stalled, with insiders describing the situation as increasingly tense behind the scenes.
However, more recent reports have complicated the narrative. Variety and Entertainment Weekly both reported that Hardy has not officially been fired from the Guy Ritchie-produced series and that conversations about a possible third season are still ongoing.
According to sources cited by Entertainment Weekly, Mirren did become frustrated with some delays during filming and reportedly confronted Hardy directly about punctuality issues. Despite that, insiders insisted there is no serious animosity between the actors and described Mirren as remaining professional throughout production.
The reports have reignited discussion around Hardy’s long-standing reputation for intense on-set behaviour. Over the years, stories of clashes involving the actor have emerged from productions including Mad Max: Fury Road, where Charlize Theron later admitted the filming environment became difficult and emotionally exhausting.
Despite the controversy, Hardy remains widely viewed as the central appeal of MobLand, which became one of Paramount+’s biggest breakout series after premiering in 2025. The crime drama stars Hardy as fixer Harry Da Souza opposite Brosnan and Mirren as leaders of the Harrigan crime family.
Fans online have remained divided over the reports. Some defended Hardy and questioned the accuracy of the allegations, while others pointed to previous stories about difficult productions involving the actor.
