Peshawar MTIs ready for Eid emergencies

Hospitals ensure round-the-clock care, staff alerts

Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and the three major Medical Teaching Institutions (MTIs) in Peshawar have put comprehensive arrangements in place to ensure uninterrupted medical services during the Eidul Azha holidays.

According to hospital administrations, all emergency services, including paediatrics, gynaecology, and other critical departments, will remain fully operational 24 hours a day throughout the festive period.

The three MTI hospitals have prepared special action plans that include the formation of monitoring committees, ensuring availability of sufficient beds, medical equipment, and essential medicines. Duty rosters have been finalised, with names of emergency staff prominently displayed for immediate recall in case of any untoward incident.

Lady Reading Hospital

Hospital Director Muhammad Tariq Khan Burki presided over a special meeting and issued strict instructions to all administrative officers that no patient should face any inconvenience during the Eid holidays. He directed that medicines for admitted and emergency patients must be delivered promptly, and there should be no disruption in laboratory tests or ultrasound facilities.

The hospital has also issued special guidelines for the treatment of individuals who may sustain injuries from animal handling or during sacrificial rites.

Spokesman Muhammad Asim said that heads of all units at LRH have constituted dedicated teams to provide the best possible medical care during Eid. Nurses, paramedical staff, and all departments have been assigned duties.

Hayatabad Medical Complex

MTI Hayatabad Complex has also announced round-the-clock emergency services during Eid.

Hospital spokesman Waseem Khattak said the Emergency Department will function without any break. Senior officials, including Hospital Director Dr Gulzar Ahmad Khan, Medical Director Prof Dr Khalid Khan, and Director Nursing Barkatullah Khan, inspected all wards before Eid. They issued strict directives for ensuring air-conditioning and other facilities for patients, warning that no negligence would be tolerated.

The administration has ensured full staffing in the Emergency Department, availability of specialists for consultation, prompt treatment, and modern medical equipment. Heightened monitoring of cleanliness, facilities, and safety measures has also been ordered across all wards.

Khyber Teaching Hospital

Khyber Teaching Hospital has placed all its departments on alert to ensure uninterrupted treatment of incoming patients. Senior doctors have been directed to conduct special rounds during the holidays.

These proactive measures aim to provide timely and quality healthcare to citizens during the Eidul Azha festivities, particularly in case of any emergency or sacrifice-related incidents.
