Shakira has opened up about life after her highly publicised split from former footballer Gerard Pique, revealing that romance is no longer a priority as she focuses on music, motherhood and rebuilding her life.

In a recent interview with The Times, the Colombian superstar admitted there is currently no space in her life for a relationship. “Romance? There’s no time in my life for romance,” she said while discussing the intense pace of her career and responsibilities as a mother.

The singer, now 49, has spent the past few years navigating one of the most scrutinised celebrity separations in entertainment. Shakira and Pique confirmed their split in 2022 after more than a decade together. The pair share two sons, Milan and Sasha, and the aftermath of their break up generated global headlines, particularly after Shakira channelled the experience into several successful songs.

Her music following the separation became both commercially dominant and deeply personal. Tracks including "BZRP Music Sessions Vol. 53" contained pointed references to heartbreak and betrayal, helping fuel a new era in her career. The song became a worldwide hit and sparked major discussion online, with fans praising the singer for openly expressing anger and vulnerability through music.

Since then, Shakira has continued to maintain an extremely busy schedule. Alongside recording new material, she has remained involved in international projects and performances. During the interview, she also discussed collaborating with Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy on the upcoming World Cup anthem "Dai Dai", adding another major global event to her already packed calendar.

The singer explained that balancing work with raising her children remains her main focus. She has frequently spoken about the importance of protecting Milan and Sasha from intense media attention following the split with Pique. In previous interviews, Shakira admitted the period was emotionally difficult for the family, particularly because of the constant public scrutiny surrounding their private lives.

Despite the personal challenges, her recent career success has reinforced her standing as one of the world’s biggest Latin music stars. Her post break up music era has produced massive streaming numbers, sold out performances and renewed public interest across international markets.

Fans have also noted how openly Shakira now discusses independence and personal healing in interviews and music alike. Rather than presenting herself through traditional celebrity romance narratives, she appears focused on creative freedom, family life and professional reinvention.
