New details surrounding the sudden death of Kyle Busch are painting a heartbreaking picture of the NASCAR legend’s final hours before he died at 41.

According to newly released 911 audio, emergency responders were called to a training facility in Concord, North Carolina, after Busch reportedly experienced severe breathing problems and began coughing up blood while preparing for this weekend’s Coca-Cola 600 race.

The emergency call reportedly described Busch as overheated, struggling to breathe, and feeling like he was about to pass out while lying on the bathroom floor waiting for paramedics to arrive.

Later reports revealed Busch became unresponsive while using a Chevrolet racing simulator shortly before being transported to a nearby hospital. NASCAR, Richard Childress Racing, and Busch’s family confirmed his death the following day, though an official cause has not yet been publicly disclosed.

The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the racing world, with tributes pouring in for the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and one of the sport’s most successful drivers. Busch won championships in 2015 and 2019 and became one of the winningest drivers in NASCAR history.

Fans have also been revisiting an emotional interview Busch gave just days before his death after winning a Truck Series race at Dover. Speaking about his career at the time, Busch reflected on how unpredictable racing, and life, can be.

“You never know when the last one is going to be,” he said after the victory.

His sudden passing has been described by many fans and drivers as one of the most shocking losses NASCAR has experienced in decades.
