The Boys may be over, but one major mystery from the series finale is still haunting fans, and according to creator Eric Kripke, the upcoming spinoff Vought Rising will finally provide answers.

After the explosive ending of The Boys season 5, viewers were left questioning what exactly happened to Soldier Boy after Homelander placed him back into cryosleep before the final episode. Despite being one of the season’s biggest characters, Jensen Ackles’ fan-favorite Supe was completely absent from the series finale itself.

Now, Kripke has confirmed that Soldier Boy’s unresolved fate was intentional and will directly connect to Vought Rising, Prime Video’s upcoming spinoff set during the early days of Vought in the 1950s.

Speaking about the decision, Kripke teased that the creative team already knows where Soldier Boy’s story is heading and suggested that parts of the finale “will make sense” once fans see the new series. He also explained that the final episode needed to focus primarily on concluding the journeys of The Boys’ core characters.

Soldier Boy played a crucial role throughout the final season, particularly after reconnecting with Homelander and becoming involved in the conflict surrounding the Supe virus. However, tensions between the two escalated when Soldier Boy refused to view Homelander as an equal, eventually leading to him being frozen once again before the show’s conclusion.

Many fans expected Ackles to return for the finale, making his absence one of the episode’s biggest surprises. Kripke’s latest comments now suggest that omission was part of a larger long-term plan for the franchise.

Vought Rising will feature Ackles reprising his role as Soldier Boy alongside Aya Cash returning as Stormfront. Set in the 1950s, the series will reportedly revolve around a murder mystery tied to the early years of Vought International and is already planned as a multi-season story.

While it remains unclear exactly how Soldier Boy’s past and present timelines will connect, Kripke’s comments indicate the spinoff will serve as the next major chapter in The Boys universe, and finally reveal what his future looks like after the series finale.
