'Virgin River' actor Stewart McLean believed to be victim of homicide after going missing

McLean was reported missing on May 18 after last being seen on May 15 at his home in Lions Bay

Stewart McLean, an actor known for appearances in Virgin River and other film and television productions, is now believed to be the victim of a homicide after being reported missing in British Columbia.

According to Variety, authorities confirmed that investigators uncovered evidence leading them to suspect foul play in McLean’s disappearance.

McLean, who also went by “Stew” McLean, was reported missing on May 18 after last being seen on May 15 at his home in Lions Bay, British Columbia. The Squamish RCMP initially issued a public appeal for help locating the 45-year-old actor.

Police later announced that the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team had taken over the case after investigators uncovered evidence suggesting McLean had been killed.

McLean worked steadily in the Canadian film and television industry, with credits including Virgin River, Arrow and Travelers.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the case and have asked anyone with information to contact the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team or Crime Stoppers.
