Coach hit kills youngfemale motorcyclist

A young woman was killed after her motorcycle was hit by a coach near Jogi Mor in the Landhi area on Tuesday, police said.

According to police, the victim was riding a motorcycle when a speeding coach struck her, resulting in her death on the spot. Police reached the scene shortly after the incident, shifted the body to hospital, and impounded the coach along with the motorcycle. The driver, identified as Amjad, was arrested.

Shah Latif SHO said the deceased was identified as 25-year-old Hira, a resident of the Jogi Mor locality.

Meanwhile, alarming traffic accident figures continue to emerge in the metropolis. According to data released by Chhipa Foundation, a total of 390 people have lost their lives in road accidents across the city since January 1 this year, while 4,304 others have been injured. The statistics show that the fatalities include 293 men, 49 women, 37 children, and 11 girls.

Meanwhile, three motorcyclists lost their lives in road mishaps occured in different areas of the city.

A motorcyclist was killed while his two sons sustained serious injuries after a speeding dumper truck the motorcycle they were riding near Karela Mor in North Karachi.

A speeding dumper truck rammed into a motorcycle. As a result, the man died on the spot while his two sons sustained critical injuries. In an incident in Saudabad near Malir Kala Board, a young motorcyclist lost his life when an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle. In another road mishap, a 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Zakaria Bridge on the Superhighway.

Police and concerned authorities continue to face criticism over rising road accidents involving heavy traffic in the city.
