RAWALPINDI:

The Livestock Department has implemented a comprehensive monitoring plan to ensure the sale of disease-free animals in cattle markets ahead of Eidul Azha.

Under the plan, nine check-posts have been established at entry points across Rawalpindi division, while animals entering cattle markets will undergo screening by livestock teams. Diseased animals will be shifted to quarantine facilities.

According to details, six cattle markets across the Rawalpindi division became operational round-the-clock from May 16 for Eidul Azha. The Livestock Department has established nine check-posts at entry points to inspect animals being brought to cattle markets, including the largest Bhata Ground cattle market in the twin cities.

Of the nine check-posts, one has been set up in Murree, three in Rawalpindi, four in Attock and one in Jhelum. Along with six approved cattle markets, eight sale points have also been established at Rawalpindi Bhata Ground, Kallar Syedan, Kahuta, Taxila and other locations.
