Public e-libraries to install firewalls

RAWALPINDI:

The government has decided to install firewalls in all libraries across the province, including those in government schools, colleges and universities.

Modern firewalls will be installed in all public educational institutions that have e-libraries and online libraries so that government libraries can be utilised properly and book piracy is restricted.

The firewall will ensure that readers only access books that are available in the government's online libraries. It will block all websites that are not available on the e-libraries. To spread awareness regarding the system update, posters will be installed across all libraries. Relevant funds will be allocated in the budget for the new fiscal year 2026-27 for the firewall system which is scheduled to be installed between July 15 and July 31.
