A new fan theory surrounding Elliot Page and Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey has sparked widespread speculation online, with many viewers convinced that Page could be portraying the legendary Greek warrior Achilles.

The theory gained traction after the release of the latest trailer for Nolan’s highly anticipated adaptation of Homer’s epic poem. In one brief but striking scene, Page appears in a dark, muddy setting and asks Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, “Who’s looking after your wife and son?” The mysterious moment led fans to wonder whether Page could be playing Achilles during the story’s Underworld sequence.

In Homer’s Odyssey, Odysseus encounters the spirit of Achilles in the Underworld. Although Achilles is not a central character in the poem, his emotional conversation with Odysseus is one of its most memorable moments. Fans believe the somber tone of Page’s scene aligns with that encounter, fueling the speculation.

The theory has also been strengthened by the fact that several major cast roles remain undisclosed. Along with Page, actors such as Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron have not had all of their characters officially confirmed.

However, newer reports suggest the theory may not be accurate. According to recent online coverage, Page is expected to portray Elpenor, one of Odysseus’ crew members who later appears as a ghost in the Underworld. If that information proves correct, Page would not be playing Achilles after all.

At this point, neither Nolan nor Universal Pictures has officially announced Page’s role, leaving fans to continue speculating until the film’s release.

The Odyssey stars Damon as Odysseus, with Tom Holland as Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as Penelope. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 17, 2026.
