42 hospital staff dismissed in DI Khan
DHO says appointments of unpaid employees will be considered automatically void after dismissal orders

In a decisive move during the caretaker government tenure, authorities have terminated 42 employees who were recruited at various hospitals and medical centers in Dera Ismail Khan district.
The District Health Officer, Dera Ismail Khan, issued formal orders for the dismissals. According to the official office order, the affected employees were appointed between January 22, 2023, and February 29, 2024.
The notification states that the appointments were reviewed under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Employees (Removal from Service) Act 2025. Although the affected employees had filed petitions with the Peshawar High Court’s Dera Bench, the court dismissed their pleas on January 29, upholding the government’s decision.
The DHO office clarified that, in light of legal requirements and the judicial verdict, retaining the employees would not be consistent with the law and policy. Consequently, orders for their immediate dismissal were issued.
Among those terminated are ward attendants, ward orderlies, laboratory attendants, sweepers, watchmen, deputy messengers, sanitary patrol staff, and other support staff. They were employed at various tehsil headquarters hospitals, basic health units, and dispensaries across the district.
The DHO further explained that for those employees whose salaries had not yet been released, their appointments will be considered automatically void.
