Genshin Impact players review bomb HoYoverse headquarters over rewards outrage
Genshin Impact players have begun leaving negative reviews on HoYoverse-related listings on Google Maps as criticism surrounding the game’s Version 6.6 rewards continues online.
The backlash reportedly started after players discussed the number of rewards expected in the upcoming update.
According to community posts shared on X, some players estimated that Version 6.6 would provide around 60 to 64 pulls in total through the game’s gacha system.
Some fans argued that this would not be enough to guarantee a limited 5-star character, which requires a minimum of 70 pulls, and several anticipated characters are expected to arrive in the patch.
Initially, criticism focused on the game’s app store pages, with screenshots showing Genshin Impact’s Google Play rating dropping in some regions after players submitted 1-star reviews about the reward structure.
The campaign later expanded to Google Maps, where users began posting reviews on the listing for Cognosphere Pte. Ltd., the Singapore-based company associated with HoYoverse.
The office listing dropped to 2.6 stars at one stage, while later reports placed it at 3.1 stars with 27 reviews.
Several reviews directly referenced Genshin Impact. One review asked the company to “give us more resin”, while another claimed free-to-play players receive fewer pulls compared to titles such as Honkai: Star Rail and Wuthering Waves.
One widely shared social media post encouraged players to leave reviews on the office listing rather than app stores, stating “they can’t delete them”.
Other users questioned whether Cognosphere was the correct target, noting that it serves as the publishing company connected to HoYoverse.
The situation has also drawn comparisons to the 2021 anniversary controversy, when players review bombed unrelated applications, including Google Classroom, during protests over anniversary rewards.
HoYoverse has not announced any significant changes to Version 6.6 rewards following the recent backlash.
