Reform committee formed to overhaul education boards
Sindh government has constituted a high-level reform committee to review alleged corruption, centre fixation irregularities, and manipulation of examination results in the province's educational boards.
According to a notification issued by the Universities and Boards Department, the committee was formed on the directives of Murad Ali Shah, who currently serves as the partial controlling authority of Sindh's educational boards.
The committee has been tasked with examining the existing administrative, academic, examination, assessment, governance, and operational systems of the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education across Sindh and proposing comprehensive reforms and improvement measures.
As per the notification, the committee will be headed by Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, chairman of the Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee. Other members include Dr Hussain Mehdi, Dr Naveed Yousuf, Universities and Boards Secretary Abbas Baloch, and Sindh Higher Education Commission Secretary Nauman Ahsan.
Under its terms of reference, the committee may also induct any expert as a sixth member if required.
The committee will review the current legal, administrative, and governance framework of the educational boards, along with the examination system, assessment procedures, confidentiality arrangements, and result compilation mechanisms.
It will also identify loopholes, weaknesses, and structural flaws affecting transparency and the credibility of the examination system, while recommending reforms aimed at improving examination standards, and institutional performance.
