Balochistan Assembly hails military victory

The Balochistan Assembly on Friday unanimously passed a joint commendation resolution, saluting the bravery of Pakistan's armed forces, army, navy, and air force, for their 'magnificent victory' against India in May last year to defend the motherland, safeguarding national security, and thwarting the enemy's nefarious designs.

The assembly session commenced with a 35-minute delay under the chairmanship of Speaker Captain (retd) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti presented the joint resolution on behalf of his provincial ministers, advisors, and parliamentary secretaries. He declared that the armed forces delivered a crushing response to the enemy, during which the "Shaheens" of the Pakistan Air Force shot down seven enemy aircraft and destroyed multiple airbases, obliterated their defense systems, and devastated several military posts.

He further stated that the enemy was forced to wave white flags at their own checkposts and appeal for mercy.

"This House pays glorious tribute to the armed forces for their immediate, coordinated, and robust response to the enemy's unholy aggression," the chief minister said.

The resolution underscored that the achievement in the 'Marka-e-Haq' was not a symbolic victory but a historic turning point that reinforced Pakistan's strategic resolve. It drew a permanent line regarding regional defense strategy and power balance, making it clear that no adventurism or aggression would be tolerated from any quarter.

The House reiterated that while Pakistan is a peaceful country, it would not hesitate to make any sacrifice to defend its sovereignty, security, and national dignity. Special tribute was paid to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and President Asif Ali Zardari for their sagacious leadership and timely decisions, which promoted national unity and effectively highlighted Pakistan's stance on a global level.

Provincial ministers and opposition leaders, including Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Mir Sadiq Umrani, Mir Saleem Khosa, and Opposition Leader Mir Younus Aziz Zehri, lapped the armed forces' response. Zehri noted that generations of India would remember the manner in which Pakistan's army responded. "Pakistan cannot be looked at with an evil eye," he asserted.

Other speakers, including Parliamentary Secretary Abdul Majeed Badini, Mir Rahmat Saleh Baloch, and Minister Raheela Hameed Durrani, highlighted that the victory had raised Pakistan's global prestige. Minority members Sanjay Kumar and Dr. Ashok Kumar also praised the military leadership, stating that Field Marshal Munir not only defended borders but also the nation.

After unanimously adopting the resolution, the House was adjourned until 3 pm on May 11.
