Jane Fonda remembers ex-husband Ted Turner as 'deeply romantic' after death at 87
Fonda and Turner remained close after divorce, with the actress often referring to him as her 'favourite ex-husband'

Jane Fonda is remembering her late ex-husband Ted Turner with an emotional tribute following the media mogul’s death at age 87.
Fonda, who was married to Turner from 1991 to 2001, reflected on their relationship in a heartfelt Instagram post, describing the CNN founder as a “gloriously handsome, deeply romantic, swashbuckling pirate” who changed her life forever.
The Oscar-winning actress said Turner “helped me believe in myself” and gave her confidence during their decade-long marriage. She also praised his vulnerability and ambition, calling him both challenging and inspiring throughout their relationship.
Fonda and Turner remained close long after their divorce, with the actress often referring to him publicly as her “favourite ex-husband”. Just days before his death, she fondly spoke about him during an appearance at the TCM Classic Film Festival, where she recalled how passionately he spoke about classic cinema and the launch of Turner Classic Movies on their very first date.
Turner, widely credited with revolutionizing television through the launch of CNN in 1980, died on May 6, 2026. Beyond his media empire, he was also known for his environmental activism, philanthropy, and ownership of major sports franchises including the Atlanta Braves.
In her tribute, Fonda reflected on Turner’s passion for conservation and said she imagined him “surrounded by all the wildlife” he helped protect throughout his life. She ended the message by writing, “Rest in peace, dearest Ted. You are loved and you will be remembered.”
