VIP movements in the city have long drawn criticism for disrupting daily life, often halting traffic for extended periods and testing public patience. The latest viral video has reignited concerns - not just about inconvenience, but about security itself - raising questions that if authorities struggle to manage their own protocol, how effectively can they safeguard the public?
A video showing citizens breaching security protocol during a VIP movement at Bilawal House Chowrangi has gone viral on social media. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday night, was captured on a citizen's mobile phone. The footage shows a large crowd breaking through a police barricade and moving toward the main roundabout while vehicles in the VIP convoy were passing through the area.
During the disruption, police personnel assigned to the security protocol appeared overwhelmed, with convoy vehicles seen maneuvering erratically.
Sources indicated that the situation may have been exacerbated by poor planning on the part of traffic authorities. Commuters had reportedly been stopped for nearly half an hour prior to the VIP movement.
