.

Authorities in Quetta have taken swift action against three police personnel following the death of a young man in a police chase two days ago.
According to officials, the incident took place in the town area of Quetta when a black Toyota Mark-X car did not stop despite signals from a police mobile. Police opened fire, resulting in the death of one occupant. The deceased has been identified as Safeer Bajwa.
DIG Quetta Imran Shaukat immediately constituted an inquiry committee headed by SSP SCW to investigate the circumstances of the case. Upon receiving the findings of the inquiry report, the DIG directed the registration of an FIR against the involved officers and ordered their arrest.
Confirming the development, DIG Imran Shaukat stated that all three policemen have been arrested. He stressed that misuse of authority will not be tolerated.
"The police are duty-bound to serve and protect the public. Any officer found guilty of high-handedness or exceeding their powers will be held accountable and made an example," the DIG said.
He reiterated that the police take an oath to uphold the law and safeguard citizens, and strict action will continue against any violations.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage from civil society groups and political parties, who strongly condemned the police action. Many have staged protests and called for a thorough and transparent investigation to ensure justice for the victim's family and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
This case has once again brought the issue of police accountability into sharp focus in Balochistan's capital.
