Santiago Martínez, a former participant on Love Is Blind Argentina, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following his conviction on multiple charges linked to an incident involving his former wife, Emily Ceco.

The sentence was issued in March after Martínez was found guilty of attempted murder, repeated assault and unlawful detention. The case stems from allegations made by Ceco in February 2025, when she accused him of gender-based violence.

The pair met during the 2024 season of the Netflix reality series, becoming engaged without seeing each other before later marrying in a civil ceremony. Plans for a second wedding were cancelled after Ceco reported the alleged abuse, which she said included physical harm.

In an interview with Televisión Pública following the verdict, Ceco described the incident in detail. “He tried to kill me,” she said multiple times during the broadcast.

She also recounted that Martínez choked her and attempted to smother her with a pillow, and that she escaped before filing a complaint.

Reflecting on the court’s decision, Ceco said, “I instantly burst into tears,” adding, “My body was shaking. I felt like I had taken a backpack off my shoulders and that I was going to have peace after a long time. I was going to be able to sleep and continue with my life ... and be able to enjoy life like I fought for.”

During the trial, Martínez denied attempting to kill Ceco. In a social media post, he stated, “I do not justify violence in any way,” while adding that he did not accept responsibility for attempted murder.

Ceco later thanked her supporters publicly, writing that she is “still healing” and moving forward after the case.
