Missing pair of siblings turn up in Lahore

Reports suggest children may have run away to escape domestic issues

RAWALPINDI:

The police have traced a pair of siblings who had been reported missing to Bibi Pak Daman shrine in Lahore. They are currently being shifted from Lahore back to Rawalpindi.

The 17-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy had gone missing from the Lailyani Rajgan area of Gujar Khan police station in Rawalpindi five days ago. The children's father had filed a complaint at the Gujar Khan police station stating that his children had not returned home after leaving for school.

He added that upon being contacted, the school administration said that his children never reached school that day. Despite his attempts to look for his children in various places, he said that he had been unable to find any information regarding their whereabouts. The police registered a kidnapping case and started their search.

The missing girl also possessed her own personal mobile phone and although she uploaded a picture taken at a location near Bari Imam after being reported missing, neither the father nor the police could establish contact with her. The police reached the Bari Imam area to search for the siblings but returned without success.

The police continued to track the girl's WhatsApp activity; however, it was difficult for them to pinpoint her location as it kept changing. After some time passed, the police received information that the children were spotted in Lahore. Following up with the tip, the police managed to locate the children near the Bibi Pak Daman and shrine and took them under protective custody.

Officials have said that the Rawalpindi police team is shifting the children from Lahore to Rawalpindi. They revealed that initial investigation shows the children may have tried to run away to escape domestic issues at home.
