Four held for torturing mentally challenged man

PIROWAL:

Four people, including a police constable, were arrested after a video showing the alleged torture of a mentally challenged man went viral on social media, triggering public outrage and prompting a departmental inquiry.

The incident reportedly took place two days ago near Nawan Chowk police post, where a mentally challenged citizen was allegedly subjected to brutal assault. After the video surfaced online and drew widespread criticism, District Police Officer (DPO) Khanewal Abid Ali ordered an inquiry and directed authorities to expand the scope of the investigation.

During the probe, investigators found that a local hotel owner and police personnel were allegedly involved in the assault.

Police said another suspect, Constable Driver Faisal, remained at large and efforts were underway to arrest him.
