'Mother confesses to killing three children'

Three siblings aged up to five years were found murdered in an apartment in the Ichhra area on Thursday, triggering shock among local residents

Initial investigations suggested that the mother had turned out to be the killer of the children. Police sources said she had reportedly confessed to committing the crime before investigators.

Her relationship with her husband had soured and he often taunted her. She also had an exchange of harsh words the previous night with her mother-in-law.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, the emergency service received a call reporting that the children had been found dead in a plaza in the Shah Jamal area.

Rescue teams and police reached the location, where they confirmed that five-year-old Momina Batool, four-year-old Momin Raza and one-and-a-half-year-old Amna Habiba had suffered fatal injuries to their throats, allegedly inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon. Their bodies were handed over to the police after initial examination and subsequently shifted to a morgue for post-mortem examination.

DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza said forensic experts had collected important physical evidence from the crime scene. He added that CCTV footage from surrounding buildings had been secured.

The brutal killing of three minor siblings caused widespread fear and grief in the neighbourhood. Residents expressed shock over the incident, describing it as unprecedented in the area and demanding swift justice.
