The upcoming The Apothecary Diaries anime film is set to deliver a story aligned with fan expectations, according to voice actor Aoi Yuki, who shared new details during a screening event in Tokyo.

Speaking on April 12, 2026, Yuki, who voices protagonist Maomao, confirmed she is aware of the film’s storyline and hinted at its direction.

“I already know what the story [of the film] will be,” she said, adding, “It's going to be something amazing. I wish I could say more.”

The film will mark the first theatrical release for the series, which has been produced by Toho Animation and OLM since its debut in 2023.

Yuki also confirmed that work on The Apothecary Diaries season three is progressing, with new episodes scheduled for release in late 2026 and 2027.

After being sold into service at the Rear Palace, her skills attract the attention of Jinshi, an official responsible for managing the emperor’s concubines. Over time, Maomao becomes involved in solving mysteries within the palace while her relationship with Jinshi develops.

While Yuki did not confirm specific plot points, reports from the event noted her reaction when discussing developments in the film.

The film is scheduled for release in December 2026, with season three planned in two parts beginning in October 2026.
