Wahaj, Sajal headline 'The Pink Shirt' reunion

Much-awaited project kicks off a year of significant releases for both stars

The long-awaited release of 'The Pink Shirt' is finally set to bring Wahaj Ali back to screens, with the Sajal Aly co-starrer arriving on April 24, 2026, marking a significant moment for both actors as they headline one of the most anticipated digital projects in recent years.

First announced in October 2023 and premiered at the SXSW Sydney Film Festival the same year, the web series will debut on the Begin Watch platform after a prolonged delay that only heightened audience curiosity. Directed by Kashif Nisar and written by Bee Gul, the eight-episode drama centres on modern relationships, tracing love, heartbreak and emotional complexity through a grounded, character-driven narrative.

Sajal takes on the role of Sophia, while Wahaj Ali plays Umer, as the story unfolds with a focus on realism rather than conventional dramatic twists. The series leans into the confusion, pain, humour and gradual growth that define intimate relationships, offering a tone that is both layered and quietly reflective.

For Sajal, 'The Pink Shirt' arrives amid continued momentum in her television career. She is also preparing for 'Zanjeerain', a drama that has already generated considerable buzz. The project reunites writer Farhat Ishtiaq and director Shahzad Kashmiri, the duo behind 'Yakeen Ka Safar', and is produced by Momina Duraid Productions.

Featuring an ensemble cast including Ameer Gilani, Danyal Zafar, Sahar Hashmi and Ahsan Khan, the serial is described as an unconventional love story exploring complex emotional connections.

Wahaj Ali, meanwhile, appears set for a particularly busy year. His rise to prominence, driven by the global success of 'Tere Bin' alongside Yumna Zaidi, has translated into sustained demand for his work. Subsequent performances in 'Sunn Mere Dil' and 'Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi' further strengthened his position, even as a brief pause from the screen left fans anticipating his return.

Beyond 'The Pink Shirt', the actor is lining up multiple projects that signal a strong comeback. Among them is 'Mitti De Bawey', which will mark his first on-screen collaboration with Mahira Khan. Written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain, the drama has already sparked conversation online and is expected to release later in 2026.

In addition, Wahaj Ali and Mahira Khan are set to appear together in a special telefilm, written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Shehzad Kashmiri. While further details remain under wraps, the project is likely to premiere around mid-year, adding to the actor's expanding slate.

Anticipation is also building around 'Tere Bin 2', which will reunite Wahaj Ali with Yumna Zaidi following the success of the original series. The sequel has been confirmed after years of speculation, with filming expected to begin by mid-2026 and a potential release window stretching into late 2026 or early 2027. With 'The Pink Shirt' leading the way, both Wahaj and Sajal appear to be entering a defining phase in their careers, backed by projects that not only promise strong viewership but also reflect a shift towards more layered storytelling across Pakistan's evolving entertainment landscape.
