'Sedentary lifestyle fuels heart disease'

The heart disease cases are on the rise, prompting health experts to warn the public to stay vigilant. Lack of exercise and unhealthy diets are key contributors, making regular check-ups and monthly screenings essential.

While speaking to the media, Associate Professor and Cardiologist Dr Bashir Ahmad Solangi highlighted a worrying trend that heart-related cases tend is rising significantly. He attributed this increase to colder temperatures, sedentary lifestyles and poor dietary habits, which collectively put extra strain on cardiovascular health.

Dr Solangi emphasised that individuals between the ages of 45 and 50 are particularly vulnerable to these conditions. He advised people in this age group to adopt preventive measures such as regular physical activity, balanced nutrition and careful monitoring of blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

According to Dr Solangi, hospitals across the country witness a substantial number of admissions each year due to heart ailments, with approximately 1.4 million patients requiring treatment annually. This rising trend underscores the importance of timely medical intervention and awareness campaigns to reduce the burden on healthcare facilities.

To protect against seasonal cardiovascular risks, the cardiologist recommended monthly check-ups and early screenings, particularly for high-risk individuals.
