Excise waives bike registration, transfer fees
The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department of Rawalpindi Division has announced that fees for new motorcycle registration, transfer, smart cards and additional registration marks will be waived for one month from Monday, April 13.
The exemption will remain in effect until May 5, after which normal fee collection will resume from May 6. The decision follows a Punjab government announcement after an increase in petroleum prices.
According to the Motor Branch in-charge, implementation was delayed due to four consecutive holidays from Thursday to Sunday, but all preparations have now been completed.
Waived fees include Rs605 for transfer, Rs1,000 for additional registration marks and Rs1,300 for smart cards.
The facility applies only if the motorcycle is registered in the applicant's name.
The relief package is expected to provide Rs200 million in benefit, to be borne by the Excise Department. The waiver does not apply to lifetime token tax.
Director General Excise Umar Sher Chattha urged citizens to avail the opportunity and register motorcycles in their own names to benefit from the fuel subsidy scheme.
