Melissa McCarthy appeared on the red carpet in Los Angeles this week, drawing attention to her weight loss and prompting renewed speculation about her fitness journey.
The 55-year-old actress attended the Fashion Trust US Awards on Tuesday, wearing a form-fitting Emilio Pucci gown featuring the brand’s signature swirling print. The outfit highlighted her slimmer figure, while her styling, including a sleek hairstyle, emphasised a more defined jawline.
McCarthy has not confirmed using the medication and has previously stated in interviews that her weight loss was achieved through lifestyle changes and exercise. Estimates suggest she has lost between 75lbs and 95lbs over several years.
Other users defended the actor, suggesting her transformation had been gradual. “Think she may have done it the old-fashioned way. She doesn't have Ozempic face and was losing weight before Ozempic got popular,” one wrote. Another added, “She's been losing weight over years. Nothing extreme. She looks great & looks even better if she did it sensibly.”
McCarthy has previously spoken about avoiding extreme dieting. In a past interview, she said, “If I can destress and do it slower and stop constantly trying to be on something, it will actually work better.”
She has also discussed the drawbacks of strict dieting, recalling a period when she followed an all-liquid plan. “I'd never do that again,” she said. “I felt starved and crazy half the time.”
The actor has said she focuses on sustainable habits, including Pilates and boxing, while maintaining a balanced approach to health.
