Flour delivery gets costlier
.

The Flour Dealers Association of Rawalpindi-Islamabad has announced an immediate increase in transportation charges for flour supply across the twin cities following a sharp rise in petroleum prices.
Under the revised rates, delivery charges have been increased by Rs20 per 15kg flour bag and Rs80 per sack for supplies to grocery shops, tandoors and hotels. The decision was made after a meeting of the association chaired by its president, Zahoor Bhatti.
The meeting was attended by office-bearers including Haji Munir Abbasi, Khalil Abbasi, Khurram Abbasi, Sheikh Faisal, Sarfraz, Nazakat Shah, Khudabakhsh, Shehzad Ahmed, Sajid Ahmed and Faisal Butt.
The association leaders said the recent hike in petrol and diesel prices was discussed in detail, adding that the public was already burdened by inflation and the latest increase would further worsen their situation.
They noted that when fuel prices were previously raised by Rs55 per litre, the association had not increased flour transportation rates. However, with an increase of Rs137 in petrol price per litre and Rs180 per litre in diesel price, the dealers have been compelled to revise delivery charges.
From tomorrow, all flour dealers will supply flour to markets with the increased transportation rates, which is expected to push up flour prices further.
On the other hand, the All Pakistan Naanbai Association has demanded an immediate revision in bread prices following a sharp increase in the cost of petroleum products, flour, gas cylinders, electricity and gas. The association has warned of a complete strike next week if prices are not revised.
